Cynthia began her study of the violin at age eight. She has maintained a successful private teaching studio since 1964 and performs professionally.
She pursued performance and teaching skills in America and Europe, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in violin performance from Brigham Young University. Her teachers include David Dalton, Percy Kalt, Elaine Richey and Franz Samohyl.
She teaches violin and string pedagogy at Utah Valley University.
Cynthia is the co-author of The Complete Musician, Violin and Cello Books.
She is the mother of eight children, all successful musicians, who served as her laboratory subjects in preparing her first book, How to Get Your Child to Practice Without Resorting to Violence, which has received popular acceptance. In addition she was named Utah Mother of the Year 2012.
